Janta curfew : India fights COVID-19 – 22nd Mach 2020- Day of Introspection

The nation is set for unprecedented shutdown Sunday 22nd March 2020 its “Janta Curfew”…

I think one should take this opportunity to introspect and realize what we humans have done to the environment by horrendous urbanization!

Other than this day waking up in the morning was the noise of traffic-fast-moving vehicles and its honks, Wild impatient people wanting to catch locals those seems to compete with time- which compels people to match pace with time. The whole scenario is making me believe that we have become machines those are habituated to the lifeless morning- waking up, get ready, put fuel in body to get started and start running – and running and running- to an extent we have managed to run in dreams as well!!

The so-called highly conscious living creature of the planet have chosen to be ignorant to rejuvenating sunrises, we have allowed our tactiles to undergo atrophy so as to fail to experience a cold breeze, our ears are more habituated to listen to noise than to hear blowing wind and chirping birds. And it's harsh but we have invited all of it!!

It is a time to be disciplined, being back to nature and appreciate what it does for us!

Stop the slaughter to satisfy taste buds & stop encroaching in animal territories.

David Quammen, author of spillover: Animal Infections and the Next Pandemic, recently wrote in the New York Times. “We cut the trees; we kill the animals or cage them and send them to markets. We disrupt ecosystems, and we shake the viruses loose their natural hosts. When that happens, they need a new host. Often, we are it.” (www.scientificamecian.com) Let the silent roads on the day of Janta Curfew allow us to listen to our inner voice and cry of nature, let it bring us close to ourselves, close to our sense of duty and more social awareness. Let it move us to begin with small attempts to do something for the environment.

Let us do something to show our next generation that we have done our part – otherwise, such few days of terror will be everyday story is what we will be offering to subsequent generations! Lets us offer blue sky and Green Earth!
